Preparation for your visit with Tulip & Tonic
The Answers You Need for Commonly Asked Questions
Please take a moment to read our FAQ's. These are here to help answer your questions as well as provide a guide to make sure you are getting the best out of your visit with us.
Facial & Chemical Peels
Corrective skincare is something we pride our spa team on. We can help you address a variety of skin concerns with simple routines and effective in-office treatments.
Before your first visit we recommend scheduling a consultation (Skinterview) with our licensed esthetician, at which time we will go over your current skincare product line up, lifestyle, your concerns, goals and create a customized treatment plan together.
For any corrective treatments (chemical peels, micro-channeling and others) we require specific home care routines tailored to your skin condition and goals for a minimum of 2 weeks prep before your facial treatment to ensure skin health and optimal results.

Sunscreen is required and non-negotiable for any corrective treatments.

**Acne/Chemical peel and Micro channeling Clients- please refrain from use of actives (serums, retinol/Retin-A/Tretionoin (both over the counter and prescription), or benzoyl peroxide topicals such as PanOxyl, Differin) 72 hours before your facial and up to 72 hours post treatment.
Do NOT wash or wet your face for a minimum of 6 hours after your facial for chemical peels.

If you have been on Accutane/IsoTret or Tazorac in the prior 6 months a consultation is required prior to any facial service.
Waxing & Hair Removal
How long does my hair need to be for waxing?

Ideally the hair should be a minimum of 1/4" + or the length of a grain of rice. If you can pull the hair with your finger tips that's perfect!

How often do I reschedule?

Facial waxing and underarms is generally 3-4 weeks. Body waxing and intimate waxing is 4-6 weeks between visits.
Eyelash Extensions & Lash Lifts
Eyelash Extensions & Lifts

I've never had eyelash extensions before, will they harm my natural lashes?

No, we have highly trained experts and pride ourselves on our clean and safe work. Properly applied extensions should move effortlessly and shed with your natural lashes.
They should NEVER be painful.
(We can shed 2-5 lashes per eye per day, this is normal. We do have heavier seasonal shedding and retouch appointments should be planned closer together as needed. These shed periods are most often in the spring and fall.)

**PLEASE ARRIVE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT WITH FRESHLY WASHED LASHES, FREE OF ANY AND ALL MAKEUP. This goes for full sets AND fills.

What is the care for eyelash extensions?

Start by cleansing with a gentle, oil free cleanser (provided for all new full sets) and a fluffy eyeshadow brush and be sure to rinse well. The simply brush them with your provided spoolie wand one they have air dried and done!
Be sure to brush at least twice daily. The cleaner you keep them, the longer they last and the happier you & your lashes are.

Do not to yank, tug, twist or pull your extensions. This can cause pain and damage to your natural lashes by removing them before their natural shed cycle. Repeated plucking of the natural lash can cause permanent damage to the lash follicle.

Please avoid mascara and liners (wet shadows are OK but please wash off well at the end of the day.)
Use of mascara on our work will require a full removal and new full set. Mascara closes up the delicate lash material and holds bacteria.

Be cautious around hot objects such as grills, ovens and blow driers for example, these an singe the delicate extensions and flatten the curl. *Use a cool setting when blowdrying around the face.
**Open oven or grill and let the heat blast out before sticking your face and lashes near the heat source.

How often do I come back for touch ups?

Classic sets are best kept up at 2 week intervals. Most retouch appointments take about 60 minutes, but feel free to ask your stylist for a little more time if you'd like. We offer 60, 75 and 90 minute options for lash fills.

Volume set, please return every 3-4 weeks for a touch up fill. We need to remove and replace grown out and shed extensions. Volume sets may be booked by time, depending on how full you'd like your lashes. 60-90 minutes.

**Over 4 weeks may have additional charges due to the amount of shed lashes and regrowth that needs adjustments.

Did you know we offer colored lashes too?!

Lash lifts and brow lamination are maintenance free for 6-8 weeks. Please refrain from getting your lashes wet, wearing mascara or eye makeup, touching or sleeping on your face for the first 24 hours. They're fragile during this period, so please be gentle.
Hair Extensions
Hair Extension Prep and Aftercare
Please visit us for a consultation so your professional can determine the type of extension that is best for your hair type and lifestyle. Your stylist will also color match you at this visit.

On the day of your service (new or retouch) please arrive with CLEAN and DRY hair. We mean clean, like double shampooed clean, for the best and strongest lasting application. Conditioner is fine for ends up to the jawline but NOT for scalp. It makes the hair too slippery for a proper bond site.

Aftercare- Avoid washing your hair for 24 hours. Then you can wash as normal, avoiding conditoner and styling products at the root/attachement sites. We recommend extension safe shampoo and conditioner which we have available for purchase.

Avoid using heat at the root or attachement sites.

DO NOT yank, tug, twist or pull on your extensions.
DO NOT try and remove them yourself. This can severely damage your natural hair as extensions are very strongly bonded to your hair.

DO gently brush your hair twice a day using a boar brush or wet brush. Be sure to hold just below your attachment site to avoid tugging on the bond site.

DO braid or ponytail your hair when sleeping, running, biking, swimming or anytime your hair is blowing to prevent tangles and matting.
