Eyelash Extensions vs Lash Lifts
Updated: Jul 23, 2021
What is the best option for you?
If you’re looking for a little boost for your eyelashes it can often be difficult to decide which lash treatment would be best for you! Lashes are considered to be most important in making your eyes pop, which is why they have become one of the most popular treatments. Both lash lifts and lash extensions can give your eyelashes a boost while reducing the amount of time you have to spend in front of the mirror getting ready in the morning.
First let’s talk about eyelash extensions. Eyelash extensions are done by placing artificial lashes on each of your natural lashes. They are placed 1-2mm from the base of your eyelid with special glue. Eyelash extensions can come in various thicknesses, curl shapes, lengths, and colors in order to completely transform your lash look.
A lash lift is mostly known as being an alternative to eyelash extensions, but please don’t make the mistake in thinking that lash lifts are worse, or lesser than lash extensions. Lash lifts are different in the sense that it involves curling or perming of your natural lashes to make them appear longer and fuller. For lifts we use specially made, non-toxic chemicals on your natural lashes, which allows your lashes to become curled from the base to the tip, which makes them appear longer and fuller.
Lash extensions do require more upkeep. You would need to have refill / touch-up appointments every 2-3 weeks to keep the appearance of your look at it’s best. The extensions will shed with your natural lashes. Also, extensions have to be taken care of well. Cleansed with a gentle cleanser once a day, brushed through, no pulling or rubbing and you have to be careful of what products and makeup you use. Lash lifts require less maintenance. They can last 6-8 weeks depending on how fast your natural lashes grow, shed, etc. After the first 24 hours of no steam, water, or heat, you can treat them like normal lashes.
So, which is best for you? For either choice you want to have healthy lashes. If you want to get something once and not have to think about it again, then a lash lift would be your best option.
However, if you want something longer-lasting, with a more dramatic look and don’t mind a bit of upkeep, go for eyelash extensions.
Whichever option you go with, make sure you never try doing either yourself. We are trained and certified in these services and can answer any questions you have!
